A new tradition is taking flight at Shelbyville Central High School! SCHS officially chartered its National Beta Club on October 1, with 69 students inducted into the inaugural chapter! 👏
Made possible through the work of Catherine Gospodarek and Becca Fanning in collaboration with school administration, this new chapter gives #students even more opportunities to grow and make a difference.
🌟 Built on the four pillars of Achievement, Leadership, Character and Service, the National Beta Club includes more than 500,000 students worldwide.
Next up, SCHS Beta Club members will head to the Tennessee Beta Convention at Opryland Hotel in November, where they will compete in academic, visual arts and engineering competitions!

When a program continues to make an impression, people take notice! 👏 Jostens has consistently been impressed with #ShelbyvilleCentralHighSchool’s Renaissance program and recently spent three days visiting three of our district’s schools including SCHS, #EastSideElementarySchool and #SouthsideElementarySchool. ✨ The visit offered an opportunity to see more of the great things happening at each school, connect with educators and learn about the programs and experiences that make each school unique. The Shelbyville Central High School Golden Eagles Marching Band wrapped up its competition season with an outstanding performance at the Forrest Rocket Tournament of Bands! 🏆
The Golden Eagles earned:
🥇 1st Place Band in Class D
⭐ Superior ratings in every caption
🏆 4th Place Overall out of 19 bands
This season has been filled with hard work, memorable performances and plenty of reasons to celebrate. These accomplishments are a wonderful reflection of the dedication and teamwork that brought the show to life.

What happens when everyday tasks suddenly become a challenge? Students in Shelbyville Central High School’s Psychology class with Ms. Claudia House recently found out!
As part of their Human Development unit, #students participated in hands-on activities designed to help them experience some of the physical challenges people may face as they age.
👓Students used perception goggles to complete everyday tasks with impaired vision.
👂They wore earplugs and noise-canceling headphones to experience the challenges of hearing difficulties.
✍️ With wrist immobilizers in place, students tried opening a Sharpie and writing on the board.
🏃 Students also attempted to run a short distance while wearing leg immobilizers.
The experience offered a new perspective on the challenges older adults may encounter in everyday life and helped students develop a greater sense of empathy for the elderly.💙💛

🚧 Students at the Shelbyville Central High School CTE Annex are exploring a new career pathway with the launch of the Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) program of study!
Led by Mr. Jason Sanders, Bedford County Commissioner and owner of Sanders Plumbing, the program begins with Fundamentals of Construction, where students learn the basic components of construction operations. 🛠️ In the coming school years, additional courses, including MEP Systems and Plumbing Systems, will expand opportunities for students to develop hands-on skills and prepare for careers in the skilled trades.
Through activities like examining the tools used in the plumbing field, students are gaining valuable exposure to the equipment and skills used by industry professionals. 👏
