About Me
Hello. I am so happy to be teaching at Shelbyville Central!
I have about 25 years experience teaching math but teaching was not my plan when I went to college and grad school! Although I do not like to fly, I have always been fascinated with rockets and space flight (just from the ground). I earned my master's degree in math at Virginia Tech and planned to work for NASA. While being forced to teach classes as a grad student (I was so afraid), my love for teaching was born. I taught college for many years then returned to school to earn my secondary education math certification and special education endorsement.
I am the single mom to three wonderful young women: Gwyn (23), Anabel (19), and Emma (17). Gwyn lives in Lexington, KY. She graduated from UK in 2019 with a major in Studio Art and a minor in Computer Science. Anabel lives in Murfreesboro and attends MTSU. Emma lives with me and is a senior at Cascade where she plays the clarinet in the Champion Marching Band. I have parenting (not just teaching) experience with both ADHD and autism.
Emma and I live in downtown Bell Buckle in a 120 year old home. We have five dogs: Romeo, Skippyjon Jones, Charlie, Lacey, and Molly, and one cat: Ender. We attend Bell Buckle United Methodist Church and really love our little community.
