Dual Enrollment Courses (DE)
Dual Enrollment allows high school students to earn college credits for courses taken through Motlow while still being enrolled in high school. As a dual enrolled student, you are enrolled in both high school and Motlow State Community College. The first four semesters are covered by a grant if the four courses are all taken at Motlow.
At Shelbyville Central we offer the following dual enrollment courses:
English 1010/1020 12th grade
Statewide Dual Credit Criminal Justice 11th and 12 grade
US History 2010/2020 11th grade
Enrollment Requirements
A non-Mathematics on non-science course (For example, English, History, Psychology, Speech) must meet the standards set below:
· ACT reading sub-score of 19 or greater and an English sub-score of 18 or greater
· If the student has not taken the ACT, a practice test score will be used.
GPA will also be a determining factor to take dual enrollment courses.
*Students can choose to take additional dual enrollment courses at Motlow outside of the regular school day. Please see your counselor for more information.
