Meet Mrs. Grijalva
I was born and raised in Tullahoma, Tennessee, graduating with Honors in the class of 2004, but have called Bedford County home for the past 15 years. I hold two bachelor's degrees, one in Political Science and Philosophy from Mercer University and another in Interdisciplinary Studies from MTSU. I also earned a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from Lipscomb University and will complete my Doctoral degree (EdD) in Learning Organizations and Strategic Change in December 2025.
As an educational leader, I believe in building strong relationships and working in a collaborative environment to support the diverse learning needs of all students. I value discourse and engagement, and I continually seek new ways to expand my knowledge and understanding. My passion lies in finding innovative solutions to complex problems and analyzing issues from multiple perspectives. I work diligently to provide a welcoming learning environment where students and staff feel safe to engage in educational risk-taking, often challenging them to delve deeper into understanding and reflect on their own thinking.
Shelbyville Central is deeply rooted in excellence, tradition, and pride. Our teachers are passionate about their students and the school community, and the administrative team works tirelessly to support both students and staff. SCHS's commitment to the Jostens Renaissance culture model immediately caught my attention. "I see you, I hear you, and I love you" is not just a Dr. Phil Campbell quote, but something that I ascribe to on a personal level. Every person deserves to feel seen, heard, and loved, and SCHS is committed to ensuring that our students believe they are valuable members of their school community.
I have enjoyed watching our students grow in their passion for volunteer work and investing in our future Eagles and Eaglettes across the county through our many service-related campus organizations. Everyone has a place to belong at SCHS; the opportunities to get involved in athletics, academic clubs, service organizations, intracurricular organizations, or professionally focused clubs are vast. I look forward to finding even more opportunities to give our students a voice in their school community; I am honored to have the opportunity to serve Eagle Nation and Bedford County Schools!
