About Me
I am a proud Shelbyville Central High School graduate, Class of 1990!
Professionally, I continued my education at Middle Tennessee State University with a BS degree and double major in Biology & Chemistry. I then attended Vanderbilt for my clinical training in the Medical Laboratory Science Technology program and became a licensed MT. After working in the healthcare field for 10 years, I decided to make my "little girl dream" come true by joining the Teach Tennessee Program and becoming a teacher. I graduated from the 5th Cohort becoming a licensed Science teacher in grades 7-12 and Agricultural Education. I also have an occupational teaching license to teach Health Science Education and still fill in where I am needed in the healthcare field. My why??? Well, I lost a daughter in 2011, 2 days before her 12th birthday. She had leukemia and later needed a lung transplant. She was healed in Heaven, God's way. Teaching the healthcare classes has let me share patient advocacy and help instill the quality of empathy in my future healthcare students. Someone has to be there when we are sick. It might as well be someone who loves and cares for us, that will do their VERY BEST to help us in our greatest time of weakness and need.
This is my 20th year as a teacher at SCHS. I have taught Honors/Chemistry and Honors/Physical Science and am now teaching Health Science Ed, Medical Therapeutics, Anatomy & Physiology classes, as well as a Clinical Internship class for seniors.
Personally, I am married, the mother of ALL girls and enjoy life in the country, antique/estate sale shopping and traveling!
