Shelbyville Central High School students and staff were evacuated this morning, 11/7/2024, after receiving a report of a bomb threat. All students and staff are safe.
However, Bedford County Sheriff’s Department and school officials are dismissing all students for the rest of the day starting at 1:00PM. SCHS students will NOT be allowed back into the building to retrieve belongings, including car keys, backpacks, purses, etc.
Students are arriving now at Harris Middle School and may be picked up starting at 1:00 PM by a parent or caregiver there, or the student may ride the bus home. Parents may pick up at the back entrance of Harris Middle and will need to have identification with them.
Again, all SCHS students are dismissed for the day and may be picked up or ride the bus home from Harris Middle School starting at 1:00pm.
Update: As of approximately 1:30 PM, any student who is a car driver, may walk back to the school, accompanied by school staff, in order to retrieve his or her vehicle. Once law enforcement gives us the approval, other students will be allowed back into the building to retrieve their belongings such as purses, backpacks, etc.
Again, all students and staff are safe, and extra law enforcement is on the scene.
Thank you for your patience and your cooperation as we work to keep everyone safe.
